Winter Star Party 2008
I grew up in South Florida, so going to the WSP was a homecoming for me. The Keys have a changed a bit since I was a kid, but the water is still beautiful, and the seeing at night can be rock-steady.
I was very impressed by the organization of the WSP -- they manage to put over 600 people into a very small space. As you can see above, many of the scopes end up very close to the water. In the picture to the right, I am talking with renown planetary imager Damian Peach and S&T writer Sean Walker. Of course, no trip to the Keys would be complete without a visit to Margaritaville; I skipped the cheeseburger in favor of conch fritters, which were delicious.
